The Fall/Winter 2023 Fashion Weeks wrapped up back in February, but now it’s time to actually wear the clothes! I reviewed the fashion collections from New York, London, Milan and Paris and put together this list of 9 of the best Fall 2023 fashion trends for women. Let’s take another look at all of the runway trends for women and get excited about fall fashion!
Best Fall 2023 Fashion Trends for Women Over 50
It was easy to skim over a plethora of unwearable looks including body baring sheer, teeny tiny bras, lingerie dressing and boy shorts (in place of pants!) But I’m pleased to report there were many standout trends that are totally appropriate for women over 50. Of course these trends are appropriate for women of all ages.
The best trends for Fall 2023 include ankle grazing coats, impeccably tailored suits, all-out leather looks, sleek peplums, circle skirts, closet staples, bold black and white, red all over, and a return to 90s minimalism.

Take a look and decide what trends you plan to embrace and be wearing this fall and winter 2023. Here are 9 of the best Fall 2023 trends for women over 50.
1. Long Coats
We can totally warm up to these gorgeous long lapel coats for fall 2023. From a toasty shearling at Lanvin to a buttery yellow overcoat with matching pants ensemble at Givenchy to a cozy deep brown wool coat at Brandon Maxwell, you’ll be ready for the weather in style.

2. Impeccably Tailored Suits
Every fall season there is suiting, but this fall there were perfectly tailored pieces to make you look and feel your best. Chanel offered their traditional softly tailored suits completed with a matching overcoat and Versace showed the most flattering hourglass shaped jacket and pencil skirt suit. There were also plenty of menswear fabrics made modern with chic tailoring, such as this pant suit at Louis Vuitton.

3. All-Out Leather Looks
It wouldn’t be fall fashion without leather! And this season many of the designers went all-out with head-to-toe leather looks. Proenza Schouler did a casual-chic midi skirt and vest in black leather worn over a t-shirt (with black leather boots), Givenchy showed a waist-cinching trench style leather coat in an amazing deep plum color, and Paco Rabanne went head-to-toe with a belted leather jumpsuit.

4. Sleek Peplums
Peplum-lovers can rejoice! The figure flattering look is back for Fall 2023. Only this time around designers showed sleeker peplums that skim gracefully over the hips. From bustier embellished peplum suits at Tory Burch to a cozy peplum sweater at Brandon Maxwell to a soft 3-piece suit ensemble at Tove, these sleek peplums will be a welcome addition to your fall 2023 wardrobe.

5. Circling Back To Circle Skirts
You may not think you want to rock around the clock until you see these gorgeous circle skirts for Fall 2023. From bold print circle skirts worn with button down shirts at Christian Dior, to a prim and proper black circle skirt punctuated with a white swoosh at Carolina Herrera to bridal-inspired embellished circle skirts for daytime at Prada, you’ll be glad the circle skirt is back.

6. Closet Staples
You may be able to incorporate some of your own closet staples into runway looks this fall. Basic button down shirts, jeans, jackets, skirts and suits had their place on the runways. Gucci paired a basic white shirt and jeans with an oversized jacket (with their double G belt, of course). Christian Dior showed wardrobe basic white shirts and black pencil skirts with gloves, and The Row (as always) offered basic pant suits and separates for an understated elegant look.

7. Bold Black And White
Yes black and white are always in favor, but this season the looks are spectacular. From the amazing drape of the oversized black and white stripe gown at Carolina Herrera, to the strong placement of white satin trim on the tuxedo looks at Balmain, to bold patterns in black and white on suits at Chanel, the black and white trend is not to be missed.

8. Red All Over
If there was one dominant color across the runways for fall 2023, it was definitely red! There were separates done in red and pops of red in many collections, but some designers showed us looks in all red! LaPointe showed a silky tunic and wide leg pant set in red with large feather cuffs and matching shoes. Balmain presented a flowy skirt and blouse in red with a matching hat. And Ferragamo walked a perfectly tailored suit with sandals in vivid red down the runway.

9. 90s Minimalism
What exactly was the 90s style? It seems fairly recent to most women over 50, but we recall the minimalist looks like sleek coats, straight leg pants and skirts and lots of black. Victoria Beckham’s collarless long coat and white seamed pants look was completed with a (90s staple) turtleneck. Louis Vuitton showed a slightly oversized menswear coat with a slim leather belt and leather pants. And Lanvin’s all black car coat and pants getup had that 90s vibe with a button up shirt all buttoned up!
