Before we dive headfirst into spring and summer style, let’s take a moment to look ahead. With Fashion Month wrapped in New York, London, Milan, and Paris I’ve rounded up some of the standout Fall 2025 trends for women over 50 to start getting excited about now. There’s a lot to love—and even more to wear.
I’m not here to dictate what women of any age should wear. Fashion is personal, and we should all feel free to express ourselves in whatever way feels best. However, there are a few fresh shapes and trends emerging this season that I think you will love that will complement and elevate your wardrobe this fall. Some of these trends may already exist in your closet (if you keep items from past seasons) or you may want to add a few new pieces.
While there weren’t any groundbreaking trends for Fall 2025, designers leaned into familiar staples: rich autumnal colors, classic wool plaids, dark florals, leather, cozy knitwear, and menswear-inspired looks. (And yes we saw a lot of fringe again!) Instead of focusing on the usual, I’ve curated the standout pieces I believe will truly define Fall 2025.

9 Top Fall 2025 Fashion Trends For Women Over 50
1. Sculpted Waist
Seen at: Givenchy, Emilia Wickstead, Thom Browne
This fall, sculpted waistlines are making a strong comeback. With sharp tailoring, barrel arms, and a structured fit, this silhouette will highlight your natural waist and create a flattering look, with little effort. Whether it’s a coat at Givenchy, or a blazer at Emilia Wickstead and Thom Browne, a sculpted waist is one to shape to add to your wardrobe for fall 2025.
2. Skinnier Pants
Seen at: Schiaparelli, Prada, Calvin Klein Collection
As shoulders are getting wider, skinnier pants are making their return, offering a sleek alternative to wide leg pants and trousers. The skinny pants balance the sharp oversized jackets at Schiaparelli and a flowey top at Prada. They also and streamline the classic pant suits at Calvin Klein Collection.
3. Skinny Belts
Seen at: Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors Collection, Fendi
A lot of shapes are getting more defined and skinny belts are back, offering a chic and easy way to define your waist without overwhelming your frame. These belts are striking accents over a top at Victoria Beckham, tied around a waist on a skirt suite at Michael Kors Collection and over a cardigan at Fendi.
4. Blanket-Wrapped Coats
Seen at: Altuzarra, Khaite, Sacai
For the cooler months, blanket-wrapped coats are the perfect blend of comfort and style. Think oversized, cozy wraps that feel like wearing your favorite blanket but look incredibly fashionable. From long maxi coats at Altuzarra and Khaite to a shorter cape-style wrap at Sacai, this trend is perfect for layering over everything from casual outfits to more polished ensembles.
5. Floor-Grazing Hemlines
Seen at: Max Mara, Victoria Beckham, Chanel
Long, flowing hemlines are a staple for fall, offering a dramatic yet elegant silhouette. Whether it’s a floor-length skirt or a maxi coat, this style exudes sophistication and grace. The key to making this trend work is to keep the rest of your outfit more streamlined—think fitted tops or jackets to balance the volume at the bottom. Max Mara showed cozy floor-grazing coats, Victoria Beckham a gorgeous red gown and Chanel’s classic jacket hit the floor for Fall 2025!
6. Fur Trim
Seen at: Prabal Gurung, Valentino, Prada
Fur trim adds a touch of luxe to any fall look. This season, designers are incorporating fur into everything from collar accents to cuffs and hems. It’s a subtle yet effective way to elevate your outerwear and add an element of glam to your fall wardrobe. Prabal Gurung showed a contrasting oversized fur collar on a maxi coat, Valentino trimmed a prim skirt suit with fur, and Prada showed a cascading fur trim collar on a menswear look.
7. Midi Skirt Suit
Seen at: Gucci, Fendi, Givenchy
The midi skirt suit is an unexpectedly chic combination of professional and feminine. This fall, pair a tailored blazer with a midi-length skirt for a sophisticated ensemble that works for both work and weekend. This versatile look can easily be dressed up with heels or made more casual with ankle boots. Gucci went classic tweed with a cropped jacket, Fendi went wild with a leropard print leather and Givenchy sculpted a black mid skirt suit to perfection.
8. Cherry Red
Seen at: Calvin Klein Collection, Louis Vuitton, Sergio Hudson
If one bold color made an impact on the runways it was definitely cherry red. Think Marachino cherry red. Whether you opt for a cherry red dress, coat, or accessory, this color adds a pop of energy to your fall wardrobe. Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Sergio Hudson all showed cherry red for Fall 2025.
9. Metallic Shoes
Seen at: Carolina Herrera, Fendi, Rokh
This is a classic shoe trend that I was so happy to see on the runways for Fall 2025. Metallic shoes are like jewelry for your feet! They add a bit of elegance to looks for day or evening. And they “go with” any color you wear. From classic mirror-gold metallic slingbacks at Carolina Herrera, to soft muted gold boots at Fendi, to cool gunmetal mid-heel pumps at Rokh, metallic shoes are a standout accessory this season.
As we embrace these Fall 2025 trends, remember that the best part of fashion is the freedom to make it your own. Whether you gravitate toward bold, vibrant hues like cherry red or prefer the elegant sophistication of a sculpted waist or floor-grazing hemline, there’s no right or wrong way to wear these styles. So, go ahead—experiment with these fresh trends or mix them with your tried-and-true wardrobe staples.
