Homemade Mocha Dark Chocolate Fudgy Brownies
My mother made the best brownies (her secret was to cook them a few minutes less than the recipe called for so they would be really fudgy). But she never frosted them and I am a sucker for icing. The rich mocha frosting in this fudgy brownie recipe makes them the perfect dessert or treat for any time of year.
How To Make Brownies From Scratch
I’m not going to lie, I also like Ghirardelli brownie mix (from a box) but why not make them from scratch? Knowing how to make homemade brownies is important if you have chocolate lovers in your life. They are not that difficult to make. Seriously, it takes only 15 minutes to prep before baking.
All you need is all-purpose flour, white granulated sugar, brown sugar, chocolate chips, eggs, a bit of unsalted butter, a little sea salt, and in this case, some strong brewed coffee (save 4 tablespoons from the pot you made with breakfast).
For the brownie frosting you simply need dark chocolate chips, powdered sugar, butter, milk, a pinch of sea salt and little more strong coffee. That’s it.
Tips
- If you would like to make this recipe gluten-free, swap out the all-purpose flour for gluten-free all purpose flour. It will work just as well.
- This brownies recipe uses 60% cacao chips, but feel free to use semi-sweet chocolate chips if you prefer or have them on hand.
