The new year is quickly approaching and with it, resolutions to hit the gym, do home workouts, or simply get moving more often are upon us. And with holiday sales, there are more cute, fun, and even high-performance sneakers abound.
Best Sneakers for Women Over 50
What’s more, sneakers are more popular than ever, and having a sneaker wardrobe can be one way to keep your look trendy (and youthful, if that’s your thing). Plus sneakers are just comfortable in a way that other types of shoes simply aren’t, so it just makes sense to have at least a couple pairs and to update them every so often.

Knit Sneakers
Intricate weaves and patterns are popping up on sneakers and other footwear, bringing new textures to traditional silhouettes. Chloe started the trend but others have run with it. For example, check out these Dolce Vita sneakers in black and cream that are reminiscent of classic houndstooth, or keep things extra-sleek with this low profile white Athletic Propulsion Labs pair.

White Sneakers With a Twist
Classic white tennis shoes will never really go out of style, but the latest pairs mix tones and materials like suede, mesh, and metallics for a bit more visual interest. Try something like this New Balance pair with a thicker sole and a tiny pop of color at the heel.

Bold Solid Color Sneakers

Ultra-Chunky Sneakers
While thicker soles and chunky shapes have been popular for a while now, in 2024 sneaker labels are taking it to the next level, featuring styles with an almost sculptural silhouette like this white and gold Puma pair.

Sneaker Slides
A chunky slide or sandal that offers all the cushion of a sneaker is a great warm weather casual option, and we’re spoiled for choice this year. We like something that’s a bit more refined than your typical athletic slides — something like these crossover OluKai sneaker sandals.

Retro Sneakers
Classics never really go away, especially in the sneaker world. While sometimes a particular style will experience a resurgence (remember when everyone was wearing Adidas Stan Smiths?), you can never really go wrong with a retro look like these Adidas Gazelles. Plus depending on the pair, there’s a certain nostalgia factor!
What are your favorite types of tennis, gym shoes, or sneakers (and what do you typically call them)? Are you planning on picking up a new pair to start off 2024 on the right foot? Do you consider yourself a sneakerhead or do you just have a pair or two for walking and ultra-casual wear, or are you somewhere in between?
