The Recap And Fashion Drama of The RHONY Season 8: Ep 13

After last week, I’m not really looking forward to this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York. I’m afraid we will have to suffer through a cat Bat Mitzvah or something equally insulting. This episode starts when Jules walks into a restaurant called “Wild” and asks for a pillow for her cooch. Then Dorinda enters (wearing a hideous dog t-shirt) and asks how her vagina is. “All we need is a venereal disease, a DNC and a pregnancy and we’ve covered the whole vagina topic. There’s a lot of vagina problems going on,” says an uncomfortable Dorinda.

What To Wear Now: Playing With Volume

Oversize pieces and loose styles have been on-trend for a while now, and there is something to be said for the sheer comfort of clothing that doesn’t restrict movement, or potentially highlight any bits that you wish would stay in the background. Additionally lots of flowing fabric always lends some statement-making drama to a look.

However, it’s not always that easy to work this trend without looking shapeless, sloppy, overly casual, older or larger than you actually are. That said, you don’t need to be a six foot tall glamazon or incredibly slender to make this trend work for you. Let me show you how:

A Perfect Pair: The White Shirt & Midi Skirt

No longer into shorts? I get it. Bermudas are too long and I no longer feel comfortable in shorts. But it’s summer, and I want to look great and stay cool at the same time. So here is an on trend pairing I LOVE: a crisp white cotton shirt (usually a button down) with a patterned midi skirt. It’s so easy and looks amazing at any age. If you get too hot in long sleeves (even rolled up) then try a short-sleeve or sleeveless version. Add your favorite pointy-toe flats, sandals or even sneakers and you are off and running. For the entire day.

How Could Bill Cunningham Die? I Thought He Was Immortal.

Fashion really is dead in New York. While fashion industry insiders continue to debate the slow death knell of New York Fashion Week – now it is officially over for me. I was and am still in total shock photographer Bill Cunningham passed away this past Saturday. OK, he was 87 but I honestly thought he was immortal and would live forever. In case you don’t know who he was, Mr. Cunningham was the original street style photographer in New York City. This stick figure of a man rode around the streets of NYC on a bike in his trademark French blue jacket and khakis with his 35-millimeter camera draped around his neck where he observed and chronicled street fashion and ever changing trends for nearly 40 years for The New York Times.
